Tras casi mil años de estancamiento, con el Renacimiento y la Reforma Protestante se empezó a dudar de lo establecido durante la Edad Media. Para finales del Renacimiento, la Revolución Científica y la necesidad de verificar información dieron pie al periodo de la razón y se germinó la semilla del mundo moderno: la Ilustración.
